Nostalgia ..Part 2
As we checked in to the Resort, I noticed a familiar scent. It was patchouli and black woman oil. Where had I smelled this fragrance? I couldn’t put my finger on it. As Lionel and I approached the elevator, the scent got stronger, and then I saw her. Beautiful and bodacious, with every loc of hair intact. Her smile was invigorating. It was the woman from my dream, Celeste. My heart began to race uncontrollably, and I could feel butterflies in my stomach. I gripped my luggage handle tightly as she stood next to me and spoke. “Fifth floor, please.”
Lionel turned to her and smiled. “Sure thing, honey. You’re in luck today. We're all heading to the same floor.” She smiled at Lionel and thanked him for his kindness. As we arrived on our floor, Lionel held the door, and she and I exited. She looked me dead in my eyes and smiled then said, “Enjoy your stay.”
‘You too, hopefully, we'll see you around. What’s your room number?” I asked.
504, she replied. Lionel smiled and took note as he spoke. “How ironic we are in 506, neighbors look at that!”
I knew from that moment I would be seeing more of her, and I was excited. She waved goodbye as she entered her suite. Lionel turned to me and said, “Baby, what was that all about? If the vibes were any thicker, I could cut them with a knife.” I shushed Lionel as we entered our suite, and then I told him about my dream. He was amazed. He assured me that it was fate and that I had to engage more with her while we were here. Perhaps invite her over or whatever. I was all excited and had not thought about the fact that Celeste might not be on her trip alone. Maybe she was here meeting a friend. I would have to know more before I could even speculate on my next move.
First things first, is her name Celeste? My goodness, I hadn't introduced myself. I ran across the hall and knocked on her door. She answered quickly. “Who is it?” At that moment, I remembered that I was the shy one. Shaking my head, I replied, ‘It’s your neighbor from across the hall, Amber.’
She opened the door slowly and smiled. “Hi, Amber, what can I do for you?”
'I was just wondering if you wanted to get drinks with Lionel and me later?' I was hesitant about her response. I mean, who ultimately says yes to a stranger they've just met on an elevator? She looked at me with a smirk that was quite inviting.
“Sure, just let me finish unpacking, and I’ll come by your suite later. Is that cool? My best friend doesn’t get in until later tonight anyways. She is meeting some friends of hers at The Crab Shack.”
Wow, all the details gave me greater insight into her friendliness. “Sure thing, no problem, just come by later… I paused and waited for her to say her name, but she started closing the door. “Hey, you never told me your name.”
‘Oh, silly me, I do apologize. How rude of me. I do that sometimes when I am nervous. It’s Celeste, Celeste Henry.’ I felt the inside of my stomach drop like I was on a roller coaster. “Celeste, that's beautiful. See you later.” As I turned and walked away, I realized I had manifested more than just this trip!!!!
